After the intense match of the 7th round of the Spanish La Liga between Barcelona and Real Sociedad (2-1), Catalan head coach Hans-Dieter Flick did not hide his delight at the performance of his midfielders. The German specialist singled out Pedri in particular, who, according to him, is gradually becoming not only a key player of the team, but also a true leader on the field.

"Pedri is an exceptional and outstanding player. His leadership qualities are becoming more and more visible. He is an amazing player and is of great importance to the team. When he's on the pitch, he's always there, always making the right decisions. His level of play is impressive," Flick said at the post—match press conference.

The Barca coach separately stressed the importance of the combination of Pedri and Frankie de Jong. According to Flick, this pair largely determines the style of the team: "Together they create balance, control the pace of the match and manage the game. With them on the field, we get what is called full confidence in the center of the field. I really enjoy watching them interact."

It is worth noting that Pedri, at the age of 21, is already considered one of the most gifted players of his generation. Barcelona has high hopes for him, and in Spain he is often referred to as Andres Iniesta's successor. Despite his young age, he demonstrates maturity and composure, which are rarely found in young football players.

The partnership with de Jong remains equally important. The Dutch midfielder brings reliability and discipline to the game, allowing Pedri to unleash his attacking qualities. Their interaction has become a key element in the new Flick system, where ball control and proper zone allocation play a major role.

Barcelona fans have long noticed that Pedri's presence on the pitch dramatically changes the team's game. When he is absent due to injuries, Catalans often lose that lightness and confidence in switching from defense to attack. That is why Flick values his young midfielder so much and tries to take care of him by dosing loads.

The victory over Real Sociedad was an important step for Barca in the championship race. At the same time, Pedri's contribution cannot be overestimated: he not only sets the pace of the game, but also inspires the partners, acting as a link between the lines.

Flick's words about his pupil can also be seen as a signal to the whole team: a new generation of leaders is being formed at Barcelona, who must restore stability and former greatness to the club. And the Pedri—de Jong bunch reminds fans more and more of the legendary duets of Barca midfielders of previous years.
